Nice to hear of Susan. . she worked in the SuperTracker group in mid-late 80s and forward . .We had lots of fun doing roll-outs of ASTRA.

Jimmy Glenn Burk10/12/2015

An interesting story....Susan Meets Kathy Crockett This was always a funny story to me..... Kathy as head of Zap Central called a meeting to discuss problems with the Zapmail system. There were 20 problems identified by Don Wallace. I came as John Schwarzmann's representative for the network . Ace McInturff, sent Susan...who had only been hired that week. Don Wallace went down the list. I identified the first five problems as a Zapmail software issues, and Don agreed. The sixth problem was strange, and I said, it sounded like Zapmail software, but I would research it and figure it out. Kathy looked over to Susan who was sitting there, just listening, really new to the process. Kathy said..."Susan....are you writing this down, the first 5 problems are for your group to fix?" Susan, said, "Oh no, I will remember it all......." Kathy paused for about 30 seconds, then WHAM, she slammed her palm on the conference table and said.."SUSAN...GET A PENCIL and WRITE THIS DOWN!!!!" Someone quickly gave Susan a pen and paper.....and she started writing The problems in that meeting ended up as 18 zapmail software issues, and 2 network, so it was wise to write stuff down..... I always wrote on my hand...if I didn't bring paper....

FedEx Trivia:At one point while selling Zapmailer II's to customers, customers were offered a special lease price of something like $150/month? and 25 cents a page(when it was costing FedEx about a $1 a page in dial comm costs)....why did marketing and sales do this?

Jim McBryde10/11/2015

Tom oliver was desperate?

Jimmy Glenn Burk10/12/2015

It was the old adage....who is going to buy the first telephone? there is no one else to call....Even with 1500+ Zapmailer 1's at stations and 6,000 plus Zapmailer 2's at customer locations, there weren't enough destinations to send to for most people needing a fax machine. this pricing and marketing was an effort to sell or lease the other 5000+ units in the warehouse and to increase the destinations...even at a loss.
